ABOUT US
Why We Exist
Upcycle Foundation exists because access to opportunity is uneven, but potential is not.
In many communities, people are surrounded by discarded materials and limited options at the same time. We see this not as a contradiction, but as a starting point. When people are given practical skills and the space to apply them, waste becomes a resource and learning becomes a pathway forward.
We believe that dignity is built through capability. Skills create independence, confidence, and choice. Without skills, people are forced to rely on what is given. With skills, people are able to contribute, adapt, and earn in ways that are meaningful to them.
This belief shapes everything we do.
We work within the principles of the circular economy, not as an abstract concept, but as a practical framework for daily life. Keeping materials in use for longer reduces environmental harm, but it also creates opportunities for learning, making, and earning. By teaching people to work with reclaimed materials, we address environmental responsibility and social development at the same time.
We do not see people as problems to be solved, nor waste as something to be managed in isolation. Both are part of a system that has been overlooked and undervalued. Our work is about restoring value — to materials, to skills, and to people.
Upcycle Foundation is not focused on quick wins or once-off interventions. Real change takes time. Skills are built through repetition, trust, and practice. Progress is not always linear, and success does not look the same for everyone. What matters is that people leave with more options than they had before.
We exist to create those options.
Our role is to build the conditions where learning can turn into livelihood, where waste becomes a tool rather than a burden, and where people are supported to move forward on their own terms. This is how we understand impact — not as numbers alone, but as sustained ability.
Meet our amazing team.

My dream is to expand the Upcycle training center, by providing learning and skills development opportunities for the youth in my community. By teaching people I can help them earn incomes and make a difference in their lives. I want to serve our communities and the environment through Upcycling; it goes together.

I have a vision where people are empowered through innovation. I dream of communities whose needs are met through the capacities and talents of the community. I would love to see that vision come to life.

When we think about ‘saving the planet’ it is easy to feel overwhelmed and disempowered by the urgent need for large scale change. But the journey begins with a single step. Fortunately, we are not alone; there are people whose journey’s we can learn from and be inspired by.
